Testimonials

Dr.Bell’s teaching style is unique indeed; her lecture on rheumatology was not only one of the best lectures I’ve had during my Physician assistant training but also one of the most engaging and interactive! She was energetic, and her passion for her career radiated through each of her pores and filled up the whole room. At the beginning of her lecture, I would have to admit that I had very minimal knowledge about rheumatological diseases since this was our first exposure to the subject, however, she seamlessly filled up many of the gaps in my knowledge. In addition, she walked us through some real-life patient scenarios and included tons of pictures in her presentation, which I greatly appreciated since I’m a visual learner.

Our lecture with her was split into two different days, the first session was 3 hours long, and the second session was 4 hours long. However, I have to say that I’ve never looked forward to a lecture as much as I did for that one! She’s genuinely admirable, and she’s not only a successful entrepreneur and healthcare professional but also someone who cares and gives back to the profession. She returns to the classrooms to share her expertise and her incredibly helpful professional and life advice. As a student and future PA, I will never forget her valuable guidance. She has truly inspired me to work hard to my full potential and understand that there are no limits as long as you’re willing to put in the work and passion into any career path you decide to pursue. Thank you Dr. Bell for being my role model and someone I can look up to in a field that can often be very difficult to navigate as a woman of color.

Best,

Lina Espinal

I walked into the lecture not knowing anything related to rheumatology or even interested in that career path. Dr. Bell made the lecture so interesting and left a memorable impact on my learning experience. I remember walking into the class on the first day and felt inspired because she was one of our first African American guest lecturers. What I loved about her teaching is that she made such a  difficult lecture so easy to understand. You could tell she had passion for what she does in the way and manner she presented the lecture. It was just nice to see someone who looks like me working in a difficult and very competitive field. It was reassuring and inspired me to strive higher and not settle for less.

Thank you,

Dr. Bell made an instant and possibly life changing impact to my career envisions. As soon as she walked into the room, her presence simply lit up the room. The fact that she has been the one and only Professor/Lecturer of color we had, made a huge impression on me and my colleagues. Immediately gave up a feeling of empowerment, self-confidence and belonging.

The lecture series was broken into 2 days sections, 4 hours each. I can say 99% of the attendants agreed she has been one of the best (the best, if not) lectures we ever had throughout the semester/program. Her career journey, self-confidence, interactive teaching methods and top notch level of knowledge kept all of us engaged for the 2 days, regardless of the long section. I didn’t feel the time pass by.

Personally, as african-hispanic descendant, female student, the journey to try to escalate in the laboral and academic fields, has come with huge struggles. Unfortunately, the difficulties black/brown-skin, hispanic descents encounter in professional environments are not new nor a secret.  For me, it has been an exhausting marathon of trying to prove myself and stand out, just because I come from a different culture, my skin is brown-colored and I speak with an accent.  Most of the time just because of the bias involved around the issue, we don’t even get the chance to demonstrate our skills and capabilities.

Meeting Prof. Bell gave me a great sense of confidence. Her professionalism and success as a Physician Assistant, Physician and entrepreneur, definitely opened my eyes to a new horizon of possibilities within my career path and even personally. Gave me the reassurance that equality is real and possible, as long as we have the foundations to demonstrate we are knowledgeable, reliable, compassionate, and specially humble.

Having Prof. Bell as guest lecturer has been without a doubt, one of the greatest and remarkable experiences, professionally and personally.

Thank You,

Yudelka De Los Santos
